Breast Cancer
CCND1 amplification occurs in approximately 21.05% of breast cancers and is an early event in the development of a small percentage of breast cancers, and patients with CCND1 amplification respond poorly to hormone therapy compared to patients without amplification.
Digestive Tumors
CCND1 amplification occurs in upwards of 50% of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas, and patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinomas with CCND1 amplification or cyclin D1 overexpression and who smoke have a lower survival rate.
Lung Cancer - Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Patients with squamous cell carcinoma in which FGF19 is co-amplified with CCND1 showed significant tumor growth inhibition in in vivo trials with co-targeting of FGFR4 and CDK4/6 compared to single-agent therapy.
Head and Neck Tumors
Potentially malignant diseases of the head and neck (PMDs) have an increased likelihood of malignant transformation if they have CCND1 gene amplification or protein overexpression.
Other solid tumors
CCND1 gene amplification can be seen in a variety of tumors such as thyroid/breast/colon/lymphoma/melanoma/prostate cancers, contributing to tumorigenesis, and CCND1 gene amplification may affect patient treatment with immunosuppressive agents.
